SPC Visits AEP

Abbey Whatley, Lead Admissions Counselor at South Plains College, visited with AEP students at Cactus Academic Center to share all things South Plains College. She taught students about tuition costs, financial aid and scholarships, how to apply to SPC, and the wide variety of certificate and degree programs available. Ms. Whatley also discussed what it takes to be a successful full-time student and highlighted SPC clubs, organizations, student life, and campus perks. In addition, she guided students through navigating the SPC website so they can confidently locate important information on their own. Our students came prepared with excellent questions, asking about night classes, career pathways, specific programs and certificates such as diesel mechanics, cosmetology, and barbering, expected career salaries, FAFSA, and the overall student life experience and benefits of attending SPC. It was an informative and engaging visit, and our students left feeling more confident and excited about their future opportunities at South Plains College. LISD is so proud of this AEP program that provides the necessary skills and academics for students to be successful after graduation! Thank you Laurie Jones, for leading this endeavor.
