Monument Restored

Levelland ISD cuts the ribbon on the old monument from the past. This "Home of the Lobos" monument was once dedicated at the old Levelland High School back in 1965. You can see that many students from LHS were in attendance when the monument was presented by Spencer Ellis. It was later moved to LHS when the new building opened in the late 1970's. Fast forward sixty years....the Levelland community voted to restore the monument at LHS. Today Levelland ISD unveils the monument for all to enjoy again on the LHS campus. You will find it on the North side of LHS near the front door. We hope that the entire Levelland community enjoys the significance it means to both old and new, past and future Lobos and Lobettes! We extend a heartfelt thank you to Hockley County Credit Union for donating the bricks needed for the restoration and to Frank Castro Masonry for their excellent craftsmanship. It is especailly fun that Spencer Ellis' grandson Richard Ellis is here for the ribbon cutting today! And you can see that LHS students are already taking pride in the old sign made new! We hope the entire Levelland community enjoys this historic piece for years to come!
