Education/Industry Partnership

LHS hosted an Education/Industry Task Force Meeting yesterday, giving our community and industry partners the opportunity to see firsthand some of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs available to LHS students. Business leaders toured the school’s Culinary Arts Program, LoboTECH Program, and Health Science Program to learn more about the hands-on learning opportunities offered to students. During the tour, guests visited the Culinary Arts program led by Mrs. Khris Oaks. They learned how the program develops a wide range of skills: from math and creativity to safety practices and interviewing skills. Mr. Scott Lawson shared how the LoboTECH Program gives students real-world experience in building and repairing computers throughout the district. In this program, students gain valuable technical skills that can prepare them for continued education at the university level or for entering the workforce in the growing technology field after graduation. Community partners also learned about the LHS Health Science program, which provides students the opportunity to earn certifications such as Phlebotomy, EKG, CNA, and PTC while still in high school. These courses are just a few of the ones LHS offers, and all provide students with valuable experience that can lead directly into the workforce or to further their expertise through more education after high school. The meeting also included a discussion on ways to strengthen partnerships and expand course opportunities, helping ensure even more students are prepared for success after high school. It is Superintendent Heseman's goal to bridge more partnerships with SPC and our Levelland Community Industries and Leaders to strengthen the courses we already offer and bring more opportunities for students to take advantage of at LHS. Thank you to all of our Education/Industry Partners who participated and are so interested in making LISD a great place to learn and grow! We are so glad to partner with you to make things happen!
