Austin Receives Student Hero Award

Congratulations to recent LHS graduate Austin Ellis! He was selected to receive the 2024 Student Heroes Award for State Board of Education (SBOE) District 15. LISD Director of Curriculum & Special Programs Mrs. Donna Pugh nominated him. This is a prestigious award as Austin is one of only 15 students selected statewide to receive this recognition for the acts of kindness, charity, and selfless service he offered toward others. A resolution was read in his honor during the general meeting of the SBOE on June 28, 2024. Austin #expectsexcellence of himself and was active throughout his years in Levelland ISD with Bill's BackPacks, helping prepare food for 220 students each week. As President of the Chamber's YELL organization, he helped raise money to triple the amount of seniors scholarships given each year. Austin was also active as President of National Honor Society, leading our students to be excellent! He was also active in Academic UIL, FCA, Band, and several athletics throughout his years, while still maintaining his GPA to be the 2024 Valedictorian. Thank you, Austin for being an outstanding leader for us! You are an inspiration for others to follow. We wish you the best of luck heading to The University of Texas.
